Why Self‑Awareness & Strengths Matter

Recent research highlights that adolescents with high self-awareness—understanding their strengths, emotions, and values—show significantly improved academic performance, resilience, and engagement (Taylor et al., 2017; Sayis et al., 2024). For teachers, awareness of their strengths enhances job satisfaction, wellbeing, and creates positive, supportive classroom climates (Naidoo & Guse, 2024; Shapira et al., 2025).

workshop structure

Appreciate: Uncover Your Unique Strengths

Explore your Forces Within—the innate qualities you bring to leadership—and recognize your Fields of Greatness—the contexts where you naturally excel.

Strengths-based teaching enhances self‑efficacy, autonomy, and growth mindset (Morin et al., 2024; Naidoo & Guse, 2024)

Affirm: Build Mutual Recognition & Belonging

Engage with peers in reflection and feedback exercises, affirming each other’s strengths. These social-emotional learning (SEL) practices foster belonging and improve academic outcomes by up to 11 percentile points (Durlak et al., 2011; Bridgeland et al., 2013).

Teachers with strong self-awareness in SEL are more effective role models and classroom leaders (Shapira et al., 2025).

Act: Vision & Goal Setting with “Best Possible Self”
